Creating Memories During 0ur Lifetime
by Brenda Hyde
This time of year my thoughts turn to my brother, who passed away over 15 years ago. My parents visit his grave each year and plant new flowers. I know this is a sad time for them especially. I think over the years their anger turned to sadness, but the hurt is always there. I won't pretend to understand why bad things happen to young vibrant people like my brother. I believe the world is an imperfect place filled with imperfect, and often irresponsible people who cause harm to others. I don't believe God wants to see tragedy, but because we have free will it happens. This is a debate, and philosophy, that has raged over thousands of years. We each have to come to grips with what we feel is "the answer".

I do know that my brother was a funny, kind and generous person who touched many lives in his 19 years. After he died people came forward to share many stories about him. He created many wonderful memories for the people that knew him. This I think is a lesson for all of us. We don't know how long we will be on this earth, but while we live our lives I think we should keep in mind that we are "creating" memories not only for ourselves but for those around us. We have the choice of making a difference in people's lives in a positive or negative way. I want the memories I create to be full of love and laughter. What kind of memories are you creating?
